The dual alnico 5 bar magnets and short, wide bobbins give the P90 its unique tonal character with a powerful midrange and a higher output than most other types of single coils.
In the neck position, this pickup sounds sweet and smooth, delivering thick, fat-sounding chords. In the bridge position this pickup has sparkling mids that really give it a gritty, open tone. Chords have a nice harmonic flourish and some notes are glassy and foregrounded.
 
The Vintage P90s are wound with plain enamel wire and we add extra mojo by winding them on the same Leesona winder used at the old Gibson factory in the 1950s. Comes with vintage braided single core connection cable and is wax encased for squeal-free performance. In short, A1 performance in sound with this beautiful Mayfield.
 
Unlike its brother with the humbucker variant, this version is complete
with Mahogany top and back and Mahogany sides, the mahogany neck, the rosewood fingerboard and again equipped with Invisble fretwork (ITF) and spot fretwork. The Graphtech Ratio Tuners are great including the Graphtech nut!
 
The model is recognizable by the lateral "wings" formed by the two "cutouts" and the two violin style f-holes in the hollow chambers. Years later, numerous variations and other models based on the design of this legendary model have been released.
