Koch Powertone III 50W
 
The Powertone III is the successor to the Powertone I and II amplifiers. Powertone amplifiers have always been popular among heavy rock and metal guitarists from all over the world. When developing the Powertone III, they wanted to retain the best features of its predecessors and improve on the original design. They added several new features such as a Drive control on the Clean channel, an OTS© circuit, Depth and Presence controls, switchable dual Master volume controls, two serial or parallel FX loops that can be bypassed, and MIDI remote control of all switchable functions.
 
The Powertone III is available in a 50 watt or 100 watt version. This model is the 50 watt version and more than sufficient for practice rooms and stages. Depending on the output power, the power section has two or four EL34 power tubes. To accommodate a Koch speaker cabinet or other expansion cabinet, the Powertone III's rear panel features five speaker outputs for connecting 4, 8, or 16 Ohm speaker cabinets.
 
Channel 1 offers a wide range of sounds, from sparkling cleans with tons of headroom to moderately distorted sounds. With the added Drive control, Channel-1 offers a greater variety of tones while retaining the wonderfully warm and crystal clear sound of the Powertone I and II.
 
The 'Distortion' channel (channel 2) has been given a new voice with a unique American-style character. The high-gain and ultra-high-gain tones now give you a tighter, more complex and harmonically rich sound with lots of definition, depth and of course tons of power.
 
Another new feature on the Powertone III is the OTS circuit. The OTS circuit is a small tube amplifier that can be overdriven to create true power amp distortion at any volume level. The OTS Drive control lets you add great-sounding tube saturation to both channels 1 & 2, while the OTS Volume control lets you increase (or decrease) your volume. The OTS circuit should be thought of as a built-in effects unit that you can enable or bypass with the footswitch. With these two channels and the OTS circuit, you can create any sound you've always dreamed of. From pristine clean tones to exhilarating high-gain tones with infinite sustain, the Powertone III will blow your mind. The Powertone-III also features two separately switchable Master Volumes. The footswitch allows you to switch from rhythm to solo volume, giving you more power to ensure your solos are always audible.
