Laney Amplification
Since 1967

Laney Amplification was founded in 1967 by Lyndon Laney while playing bass guitar in "Band of Joy"

Lyndon's intense interest in electronics, combined with his lack of money to buy a good amplifier, led to him building the first Laney amplifier in his father's garage. As the tone of Lyndon's amplifiers spread, he was able to supplement his income by selling amplifiers to many local musicians, including Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath.

1970

When Laney's signature tone was heard on Black Sabbath's groundbreaking debut album in 1970, demand on the new company's production facilities became too high. Laney began producing temporarily in the Digbeth area of Birmingham, but eventually settled in Cradley Heath, where they remained until 2004 when they moved again to larger facilities in Halesowen.

1990

In the 1990s, Laney built on their reputation for innovation with products like the VC line of amplifiers, which were combo units reminiscent of the Vox AC series, but with built-in effects and advanced features.

Their classic VH100R, as well as the GH50L and GH100L head units, were also introduced during this period, gaining acclaim from guitar heroes such as Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, John 5 and Joe Satriani. Laney also introduced Tony Iommi's first signature amplifier, the GH100TI, in 1995.

2023

In 2023 we see a beautiful series of amps at Laney and an impressive list of artists who play on Laney Amps.

For the starting guitarist you will find a nice LX series. If we look at the Tube Amps we see the Super Group, Lionheart, Ironheart and Cub-Super. In addition to all these fantastic series, you will also find the Black Country Customs effect pedals. Designed and built in the UK and you get the best that Laney has to offer.
