Mayfield Pro < > Mayfield Legacy

With the choice of 2 different models that sound completely different due to the different specifications, we invite you to test this model that breathes history in The Guitar Master Shop. The Guitar Master is the only dealer in Europe and beyond with the largest collection of Framus guitars.

Framus' rich history goes back a long way. Until 1946 to be precise, it all started with Fred Wilfer. The museum in Markneurkirchen exudes history. This also applies to the Mayfield model that we proudly present. For the origins of the Mayfield model, we go back to the origins of this model in the 1970s.

Behind the Italian-American pseudonym Billy Lorento lies Willi Lorenz Stich, born on March 24, 1931 in Wahn-Heide, a few kilometers south of Cologne, Germany. Stich, who in his early years as an artist used names such as Bela Lorentowsky to give himself an Eastern European touch, was one of the best-known jazz soloists in Germany in the 1950s.

Billy Lorento started working with Framus in 1953: in the following years this collaboration resulted in several signature models, from the exotic solid wood Thinline to the low budget solid body models.

The current Mayfield model is most similar to the BL10 model that was built in the late 1970s. Then you had the choice between, for example: bold-on or set neck. The pickups were from DiMarzio. In the headstock of the old Mayfield you can still find the Warwick logo, which was founded by Hans Peter Wilfer, the son of Fred “founder of the legendary bass brand” who had revived Framus.

The Mayfield model really deserves the credits because once in your hands, you won't let go of this instrument. Come meet Framus and Mayfield.

The
Models

The Mayfield comes in 2 variants. You can choose the model with a maple body, maple top in combination with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard or a body, top and neck made of mahogany.

Types of wood

Mahogany

The Mayfield Legacy models are built entirely of Mahogany. The body, top and neck are made of mahogany.

Luthiers' years of experience determine which mahogany will be used for the teambuilt models. Mahogany has a rich, warm sound that is loved by many guitarists and is therefore widely used.

Maple

The Mayfield pro comes with a Maple body, Maple top and solid side. This gives a completely different sound than the Legacy.

The Mayfield Pro features AAA maple in the body, top and neck. Luthiers' years of experience determine which ones are used for Team, Master or Customshop. In addition to Maple's beautiful looks, the A- rating also indicates its quality. So it is not only the beautiful looks but also the AAA quality that makes the difference.

Pickups

Seymour Duncan's pickups are impeccable. Framus has a long collaboration with the brand and is a perfect combination.

In the Mayfield Legacy you will find hot P90 pickups and these sound fantastic in combination with the woods. A P90 (neck) with a P90 (bridge). These pickups are wound on an original Leesona Machine. The legendary pickups on the early Gibson guitars were all wound on a Leesona machine.

In the Mayfield Pro you will find an SH-1 '59 (neck) and an SH-4 JB (bridge) and these elements are once again legendary.
