MASTERBUILT

Framus Masterbuilt guitars are guitars of German perfection that will last a lifetime. We are often asked what the difference is between the Teambuilt and Masterbuilt series. The difference is in the basics: the Masterbuilt guitars are made from the best types of wood available for a guitar. All types of wood have an AAAA rating and you can hear it!

We have several wood samples with different ratings in our shop to demonstrate the difference in sound. We also have Teambuilt and Masterbuilt guitars in our shop, so you can experience the difference for yourself.

Masterbuilt models

With a Masterbuilt you get the best possible woods available for a guitar. Is there that much difference? Yes, we will try to explain that and we would also like to invite you to our shop. First the models that are available in Masterbuilt.

Framus has various Core models for the Masterbuilt series. Panthera II Supreme, Television, Mayfield Pro, AZ10, AK74, Diablo II  Supreme, Blank, Diablo II supreme and the Idolmaker.

Types of wood

The Panthera II Supreme, Television, Mayfield Pro and Idolmaker are built with AAAA Maple wood in combination with the best Mahogany wood for the body.

But what is the difference between AAA maple used in the Teambuilt line and AAAA maple used in the Masterbuilt.

If you look at the drawing (flames/stripes) you will see that the flames of AAAA Maple are very beautiful compared to AAA Maple. Both very beautiful, with the 4 AAAA simply being even more beautiful. But it also remains a matter of taste of course. Most luthiers will also say that AAAA maple sounds even better than AAA.

Of course, this did not come out of the blue and is preceded by years of experience.

There is also a difference in mahogany, although this may not be visible at first glance, but you can 100% assume that there is a difference here too. Mahogany has a rich and warm sound and is often found in more expensive instruments.

Luthiers' experience is of course the deciding factor and a Masterbuilt gets that better piece of mahogany that sounds even better than a Teambuilt

Neck & Fredboard

With the Masterbuilt models you can find a Mahogany or Flamed maple neck on the guitar. The Fretboard is a Tigerstripe Ebony fingerboard.

The Ebony wood type has a high density and therefore a tight sound and produces beautiful high tones. Because this type of wood is more expensive and more difficult to work with, you will often find ebony on more high-end instruments. Ebony usually has a dark black color and looks particularly beautiful. The wood type Rosewood is relatively porous compared to, for example, ebony. The tonal quality of Rosewood is warm with an emphasis on the lower frequencies.

Finishing

With Masterbuilt guitars you can choose from various finishing options. After the finish, the guitars are specially treated with the latest UV technology.

Depending on the model you have the options:

Plek® technology

All Masterbuilt models are adjusted with the 'Plek® technology', an advanced accurate measuring and trimming technique.

The guitars are measured at every possible playing position. The pressure is accurately calculated by simulating the resistance of the guitar strings and taking into account the arch of the neck.

Then, in the trimming process, each fret is worked individually, based on the previous measurements. The fret radius is retained even after the milling process. The result is a flat string position, perfectly rounded fret crowns, improved intonation and great playing comfort. In short: say goodbye to fret buzz, even at the lowest actions!

The perfect fret

There is just a little more technology behind the production of the Teambuilt instruments. For example, all guitars from these lines have the Invisible Fretwork Technology (IFT).

What does this mean?

First, frets are installed and finished with precision down to a hundredth of a millimeter, with consistent quality. In addition, the fret slots are not cut across the entire fingerboard, as is done by most manufacturers.

Two millimeters of wood are left 'open' on both sides, creating a kind of U-profile. This makes the neck of your guitar more resistant to possible twisting and vibrations are better transmitted. Then, in the trimming process, each fret is worked individually, based on the previous measurements. The fret radius is retained even after the milling process. The result is a flat string position, perfectly rounded fret crowns, improved intonation and great playing comfort. Say goodbye to fret buzz, even at the lowest actions!

In short, with a teambuilt model you get a guitar from German Perfection delivered with an authenticity document and of course a solid gig bag
